How Much Have You Paid...

for Nancy Pelosi's booze? Perhaps all the anti-Wall Street rhetoric and talk of "fat cats" we're hearing is designed to deflect attention from the fact that the American taxpayers are spending about a thousand dollars a week to pay for Pelosi's in flight food and booze, for a total of $101,000 for the last two years. Of course, this is only a fraction of the staggering $2.1 million that has been used to pay for Pelosi's travel on Air Force jets in the last two years. The story of Pelosi's abuse of private jets dates back to last spring and was written about by John Fund last August, but continues to be an aggravating example of waste and hypocrisy. Wasn't it just 14 months ago that congressional Democrats forced the CEOs of car companies to drive to Washington (in hybrids, nonetheless) for congressional hearings? Maybe Pelosi should look into doing the same thing.

Looking at the prices paid per bottle (1/5ths, I think?), they gave a pretty fair deal - perhaps because of the bulk?

I suppose you could think of it as spreading the wealth, except once again it is taxpayers money. Just why are we paying?

Also the amount, spread over 2 years, might suggest the Speaker has a drink problem? Either that or she only flies with drunks - and by that I don't mean the aircrew!
